On my other blog: What it's like to be a white woman in Indian clothes

Hello ladies and gents. This is a not-quite-Bollywood-related post (I swear I'm working on a few of those...), but I just wanted to direct attention to a post at one of my other blogs.

I took quite some time compiling a blog post on being a white woman in Indian clothes and thinking about the question of cultural appreciation vs. cultural appreciation.

An excerpt:

"In an globalized world where Western clothes have become the norm in many places, embracing non-Western clothes is a bit unorthodox, but some of us feel drawn to it. It’s probably one of the most “strange” manifestations of my love for other cultures.

In the eyes of many, I toe a very fine line: Am I respecting another culture or wrongfully appropriating it?

Perhaps the best thing to say in this situation is this: There is no easy answer."
